Rock & Blues 2006

I'll attempt to claim longest journey to the rally, seeing as I was in Glasgow on the Thursday morning, then Newcastle and Tamworth before riding up to Pentrich, but I'm sure with the majority of the journey done in the car, Ian will have something to say about his ride from Wiltshire. But then again Ian had quite a lot to say that weekend.

I think the best memory from Thursday night was Thora taking a verbal beasting from the boys. Chunky was the word and plastic bottle was the reply.

Having arrived in the cool of the evening with MTL and Pete, Camp Sally was already in place so there was little for us to do. Thursday for me was a gentle chill-out in the Shelter...chill being the calm before the storm, because Friday morning hit us like a sauna on fire. I think the best memory from Thursday night was Thora taking a verbal beasting from the boys. Chunky was the word and plastic bottle was the reply. If you've ever seen the scene from the Blues Brothers, where Mother Superior whacks Jake and Elwood both across the face simultaenously, then that's the picture you want in your heads.

The next day was gloriously hot and sunny, a far cry from a year before where rivers of water were running down the hill and the mud was ankle deep.

I was looking forward to Friday, mainly because 'For One Night Only Alistair' was back in the shop window. The jokes were already going around that he'd have two beers and fall asleep dancing, but fair play to the guy, he was still awake when the sun came up. Gotta say, the joy we had at watching him walk down the hill sideways and back up the hill sideways was worth the entrance fee alone and by the time Ian arrived back with a quite remarkable tale of Italians and Pink Boas, Alistair had already nodded off twice. Pity that really because allegedly Alistair was the only witness to said quite remarkable tale!

A few sneaked away to the safety of their tents while the hardy bunch maintained MTL's Law. Tents?..who needs 'em...it's dawn...the sun's up and it's party time. (Have to point out at this time that Pete took 20 mins to get to his tent which was 8 feet way...some going that)

What of the gig? Well Vixen were crap in my view and UFO were good. Some would say very good but I wasn't too bothered about the Friday night line up...for me it was all about Saturday. Roll on Saturday.

(To be continued. Possibly.)

I think all of us nearly p*ssed our pants on more than one occasion, we were laughing that much!

I would write something, if I could remember more than just little snippets!!!! I should have taken notes at the all-night Friday p*ss-take of Ian...I remember that they had an eye...and an Irish murderer for a father. One was gay, one was bi-sexual...one that wasn't there fancied Ian...after that it all went a bit silly!!!

Ian / Mick do you remember any more than that?!

What a night though, absolutely brilliant, I think all of us nearly p*ssed our pants on more than one occasion, we were laughing that much!

Love to all
Thora
